Manuka Honey

How Manuka Honey and Ginger Tea Can Boost Your Health

Honey has been used as both a delicious food source and as a medicine for thousands of years. Honey contains nutrients as well as plant compounds that make it a healthier alternative to sugar. There is one honey that stands above the rest, and that is the fabled manuka honey.  When you combine manuka honey with other herbs such as ginger in a tea, you have a legendary soothing combination.

What is Manuka Honey?

Manuka honey is native to New Zealand and comes from bees who gather pollen from the manuka bush. This pollen creates honey that has unique properties not seen in any other honey in the world. Here are a few of these incredible properties:

Antibacterial

Honey has antibacterial elements to it and is high in antioxidants. It not only keeps a wound moist but can stave off the proliferation of bacteria. Manuka, however, goes a little further. Several studies have shown that manuka honey may help to accelerate wound healing time and help with the regeneration of new tissue.

One study found that when researchers applied manuka honey to wounds that wouldn’t heal, 88% of the wounds got smaller. The honey produced an acidic environment that helped induce the tissue to heal.

Digestive Symptoms

People who suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) suffer from diarrhea, constipation, irregular bowel movements, and abdominal pain. Consuming manuka honey regularly may be able to ease these symptoms.

In one study, manuka honey reduced inflammation in rats that had both IBS and ulcerative colitis (another inflammatory bowel disease).

A type of bacteria known as clostridium difficile (c. difficile) can cause severe inflammation of the bowels and causes diarrhea. In a study on the bacteria conducted in test tubes and rats with a c. difficile bacterial infection, manuka honey killed the bacteria. c. difficile is only usually treated with antibiotics, so this is a significant discovery!

Manuka Honey and Ginger Tea

Combining Manuka honey with herbs makes it a powerhouse of healing. Ginger offers a lot of health benefits, including:

  • An anti-inflammatory
  • Digestion aid
  • Pain reliever
  • Alleviates nausea

Not only do you get a tasty combination if you drink manuka honey and ginger tea, but you also get a dynamic concoction. The duo can help with digestive ailments, joint pain, chronic inflammation, and even help relieve nausea. Also, it is outright delicious.

Manuka honey and ginger is a soothing tea that can help you with optimal wellness.
